Our Novato 14 Year Old All Stars have taken the first game in the State Tournament Saturday in Woodland, defeating Vallejo 8-4. Evan Blandino was the starter and winner, giving up only two earned runs in five innings of work. Malik Hickerson had three hits, Noah Lakritz had a key two RBI single, and Chris Gorman delivered a long RBI double in the first to lead Novato to this important first round victory. Our 14 year Old All Star team swept through the District Tournament at Santa Rosa. After 7-4 and 14-5 wins, Novato faced Sonoma for the Championship. Chris Gorman delivered a complete game pitching performance giving up only a run in the first inning to lead Novato to a 7-1 victory. Novato's defense was outstanding in this game as Malik Hickerson, Josh Walewander, Nick Elsbree, and Noah Lakritz provided key plays whenever Gorman needed it. Two Champions dueled at Narcissi-Testa field to decide the 2010 Novato Babe Ruth "World Series" Title. And the Angels and Reds put on quite a Championship show with great pitching and outstanding defense as the Reds got an unearned run in the bottom of the first, then used Josh Garcia's pitching, and the Reds defense to subdue the Angels 1-0.
